Shell Oil has been rebuked for advertising the sustainability of its Canadian tar sands project as well as a scheme to build North America's largest oil refinery. Both projects will lead to more greenhouse gases and extracting oil from tar sands is a highly inefficient process that requires the destruction of massive tracks of virgin forest.
